I feel extremely lucky that in the 5 years of owning my own business, this is my first hard drive to crash. Everyone says it's just a matter of When? Well... when for us was last night. I am at a wine making conference in Charlottesville, VA when my assistant, Carrie, calls me. We are working on an album from 2005 and the hard drive wouldn't mount. After trying disk utility, force mount, unplugging, restarting and lots of choice words, we decided to go to the back up hard drive. She went to my house where a second hard drive is stored and luckily it was in perfect working condition. NO client files were lost and the 2005 files are safely backed up a third time. Huge kudos to Pictage, my online hosting partner and lab. They also back up all of our files. Within 10 minutes, I was able to have all the files I needed for the album sent via FTP to me directly from Pictage. Computers and Hard drives WILL fail! Please make sure you plan for it!!
